Devin Guttman, Staffer
Devin Guttman is a senior at Smoky Hill and she has been a part of the school newspaper for the past three years. She decided to be in newspaper because she wanted to try some new activities, so she gave it a shot and she really enjoyed it. Newspaper really opened Devin up to new things, and taught her a lot of things about the community that she didn’t know.
Devin is not only a part of the newspaper but she is also one of the captains of the Overland gymnastics team. She has been on the team for four years, and has been doing gymnastics since she was three years old. She is one of the top vaulters on her team and is now fighting a serious case of shin splints and ankle injuries but she continues to fight through it. She is very dedicated to this sport and is extremely sad to say this is her last season on the team. She will not be continuing gymnastics in college.
Devin has been going to Smoky Hill for four years and has continued the AP program since she was a freshman. Although she loves newspaper, Devin will not be continuing down that path in college and hopes to study either sports medicine or occupational therapy. Even though she isn’t going to be continuing with newspaper, the class itself taught her a lot, which she knows will come in handy later on in college. Newspaper taught her how to meet deadlines, as well as how to articulate the thoughts in her head clearly onto paper. She has met a lot of great people in newspaper, and it gave her a lot of great opportunities to get more involved in school. Devin hopes to go to CSU Fort Collins for college.
