Healthy, or Not?

Michelle Obama works to create healthier eating habits for students.

Many students may have heard that starting next year, unhealthy ‘junk’ foods will no longer be allowed in schools.

Four years ago, Michelle Obama created the Let’s Move! Initiative. The Main goal of this initiative was to end childhood obesity. In order to adhere to this initiative, Michelle Obama changed school lunch menus by taking away a good portion of the sugar, salt, and fat used to prepare school lunches.

There have been a lot of concerned students around the school. They believe that there will no longer be junk food – or food in general – aloud in the school. Let me be the one to tell you that this accusation is false.

Michelle Obama is not only taking Junk food out of the schools, but also implementing a healthier eating plan for students in schools. Not only that, but she is also trying to make life a little easier for people who are a part of the WIC [Women, Infants, and Children] Program by lowering prices in local grocery stores and limiting the intake of white potatoes.

I agree with the new laws that Michelle Obama is implementing into society, because  although we don’t like to hear it – just as much as I don’t like saying it – we are not the healthiest country. Obama is only trying to slowly diminish that stereotype.
