Homecoming is only days away, time to prepare for an amazing night

Devin Guttman, Staffer

For those of you who have never been to a Smoky Hill homecoming before, here are a few tips to make it one of the best, most pleasurable experiences of your entire life.

First, for those ladies who like to make everything an experience, you must remember that heels are hard to walk in-let alone dance in – so make sure that you bring a pair of sandals to wear so you don’t leave the dance with two broken feet. Also, another thing us girls love to do is make our hair perfectly coiffed, and our makeup up perfectly on point. But remember, with a gym filled with that many hot sweaty people, don’t expect to look as perfect as you did when you walk in.

Pictures are a huge part of homecoming. Everyone looks amazing, and it really is a moment you want to remember, but a lot of people tend to mix up times and places for pictures which could potentially cause you to be late for the dance. Again, be sure your plans are set, and everyone knows when and where you are meeting.

The homecoming dance is nearly three hours long, and after a while most tend to get tired and worn out. This is why you should make sure to drink a lot of water before and during the dance, and have dinner as well.

Speaking of dinner, prom and homecoming are pretty different. Prom is really the time when you should go to a fancy dinner, but for homecoming it really isn’t worth the money unless that’s something you want to do.

So let’s review. For the ladies, bring sandals, and a bag of makeup for touch-ups. Also, make sure everyone knows the plan, drink a lot of water, and don’t feel it is necessary to spend all your money on a fancy dinner.

My first homecoming was an amazing experience and for our new buffs out there I want it to be the same for them.
