Elizabeth Fernandez, Staffer
Elizabeth Gloria Fernandez, 14, is a freshman this year at Smoky Hill High School (SHHS) and this is in her first year of both high school and newspaper. Entering SHHS in 2015, Elizabeth was exceedingly nervous about the new environment and not knowing if she would be connected in any way with her friends from last year. Over a few weeks, Elizabeth was truly amazed at how quickly she adjusted to the new conditions and how fast she made friends. On her free time, she enjoys caring for children, reading and helping in any format. Her favorite subjects are English and Math. She likes english because it is a way for her express how she feels about different topics. The reason she enjoys math is because it allows her to work through obstacles and problems. When joining newspaper, she was very enthusiastic and eager to work in such a collaborative environment. She hopes to make a difference through her writing and along the way, learn many techniques, such as managing time wisely, writing efficiently, and being open-minded to what’s around her. Newspaper has helped Elizabeth with her conversation and writing skills. After high school, Elizabeth plans on going to college, into the medical unit and becoming a gynecologist. She wants to become a gynecologist because she is very fascinated by the woman’s body and how it structures. Elizabeth’s mother is Irish and Italian and her dad is Mexican. She has five step brothers and five step sisters.
