Welcome new Volleyball coach

Get to know a little bit more about the new girls’ Volleyball coach.

Elizabeth Fernandez, Staffer

Smoky Hill continues to grow each year, and with it the necessity for additional staff. We are pleased to welcome Scott Nugent (also known as “Nuge”) as our new girls’ volleyball coach.

Nugent has been playing volleyball for 30 years and has been coaching at “no limits” (Volleyball foundation) for eight years and coached at Ponderosa High school for 7 years. Throughout the time talking to Nuge, I discovered not only his past experiences and perspective towards volleyball but also the great excitement he has to join our “Smoky family.”

“Teachers and students should know that i’m a pretty open book when it comes to communication, I think I’m pretty direct, meaning- it’s a waste of time and energy to beat around the bush, not that you’re mean, but i’d much rather give you the truth then let you find out some other way,” says Nuge.

Some few fun facts about our new volleyball coach:

What’s your favorite color?  “My favorite color is green,” says Nuge.

What’s your favorite animal and why?  “Right now, my favorite animal is my dog, buddy. He’s my little pal. Being in a house full of women, I live with my four daughters and my wife, having another guy in the house is nice,” says Nuge.
