At Smoky Hill High School this time of year the leaves are changing and the stress levels are rising, midterm season has arrived. The halfway point of the first semester is just around the corner. It’s time for students to start cram study sessions and somehow deal with the stress that comes with midterms.

Midterms can be a great way of testing a student’s ability of retaining information learned earlier in the year.

“Midterms are actually something that I am very much so worried about. This will be the first time I will have midterms in high school,”Jakob Geinger-Nieves said. “I’ve been just making sure to study every night and I have been thinking of getting a tutor.” “To try and lower stress during everything I have just been taking small breaks from studying to help.”

Meanwhile students who have already taken midterms have their own ways of dealing with this situation. Students in any class above the freshman class have gone through this before. Many students have a plan put together to combat the stress. Senior Kiahn Brown says “I feel like I have never studied as mush as I need to I end studying things I don’t need to.”

“I always just keep in mind that breathing is the key. I remember when I get to the limit of stress to just breathe and try to keep my mind on the task at hand.” said Kiahn Brown.

“Stress can be annoying, but it can be beaten. Goodluck to my fellow students,” said Jakob Gienger-Nieves.
