The Bells

Whats Up With The Bells

Ryan Vanetten, Staffer

If you’ve attended any class the last few weeks  you’ve likely  heard the bell and the intercom noise at least once, if not all class period. The two-minute bell is ringing all class because the workers are testing to see if their voice can be heard in all parts of the building.

“We are just updating the equipment and testing to see if it works,” according to dean Miwa. This is important for security threats and any other communication based things around the school. But It’s the students learning environments that are affected by the constant ringing of the bells.

Sophomore Deonte Rivers a Varsity lacrosse player and a thriving student here at Smoky Hill says, “The bells are really annoying and it’s hard to focus on my work when the bells are constantly ringing and the people are yelling test 123 the entire class”.

Rivers mentioned it being important for the school to get new bells and a new intercom so that the communication in the school is top notch.

With the new bells we hope to be safer and informed with news faster and with no chance of error or failure. The new equipment is and will be a good investment for the students and the future of Smoky Hill.
