5. Loveland Resort: Loveland Resort is an intermediate to beginner ski resort with 1,800 acres of skiable terrain. Loveland provides some of the cheapest lift passes of any resort in Colorado. Children under 6 years of age ski free and an adult pass is $149 while a senior pass is $109. Loveland is also much less crowded than the other locations in Colorado. My biggest complaint about Loveland Resort is the lack of silence on the mountain; because Loveland wraps around I-70, there are constant traffic sounds that are annoying, especially at the base.
4. Breckenridge Resort: Breckenridge is one of the biggest Colorado resorts with 2,908 acres of skiable terrain. It is one of the EPIC Pass resorts making it a cheaper option for a season pass. Breckenridge has all types of terrain for all different skill levels and they also provide a large park and a slalom every year. The biggest problem with Breckenridge is its flat map making it hard to access all five peaks easily.
3. Winter Park Resorts: Winter Park is a massive resort spanning three peaks with 3,081 acres of skiable terrain. Like Breckenridge, Winter Park has a large terrain park and slalom. Winter Park is an IKON resort making the resort more accessible for lots of Colorado skiers because of how popular the IKON pass is– the pass itself is $1,309. Winter Park slopes have lots of tree runs and groomers. To get to Winter Park, you have to go on the Berthoud Pass which can be challenging for lots of cars, especially if you don’t have winter tires or some assistance for slick roads.
2. Keystone Resort: Resorts in Keystone offer some of the most diverse terrain in any Colorado resort from tree runs to groomed runs and everything in between– it has it all. The resort is sectioned off into different peaks making this the perfect resort for all types of skiers and snowboarders. Keystone is part of the Epic Pass as well, making it cheap compared to its nearby competitors. A day pass is expensive being $195 per adult, but if you buy an EPIC season pass, for $444. They also have night skiing and lots of festivals. The biggest complaint with Keystone is the icy snow, because the way Keystone Mountain faces the mountain is often icy, especially at the base.
1. Copper Resort: Copper Resort is an IKON resort with 2,538 acres of skiable terrain. Copper is number one on my list because of many factors that make it more convenient to ski. Copper is two hours from Denver, has easy parking at the base of the mountain and is part of the IKON pass making it another cheaper option. The mountain’s terrain is easy to access because of the many lifts on the mountain and the catwalks making all of the mountain runs accessible from the peak. The biggest complaint with Copper is that it is not a good resort for new skiers and snowboarders because of the expensive day passes and week passes, it’s a much better deal to get a season pass.
