Smoky Hill’s varsity basketball team takes on Kent Denver for their first game of the season. The game was close most at the beginning with Kent Denver shooting threes and getting to the free throw line. Rickey Mitchell the senior 6’4″ guard dropped 21 points. Two freshman came out and helped the team Carter Basquez 6’5″ with 10 points and Kai Mcgrew gave 14.

Mcgrew lit the crowd up with putting someone on the highlight reel. Mcgrew came down the lane and slams it on a Kent Denver player. The crowd was going wild!

There were a couple of scary injuries in the game for Smoky hill players. Jayson Lewis (12) went down with a ankle injuries early in the game everyone was scared for him but Lewis returned fine.

The end of the game Kaylan Graham (10) went on a fastbreak and got tackled in mid air by the opposing team and gave a scary fall with Graham falling on his back. The Kent Denver player got ejected.

Smoky Hill basketball team is ranked #5 for 6A Colorado. This is the highest class rank in the state of colorado

Final Score of the game was 94-56 with Smoky Hill winning by 38. Great win for the Smoky Buffaloes.
