What better way to end off the school year than with a celebration for the graduating class?

Senior Celebration originally began as “Senior ditch day”, in which seniors would ditch school to celebrate their graduation. Eventually, an incident occurred but instead of banning the tradition, the school took it upon themselves to host “Senior celebration”. Lydia Bennett, 12, was one of the seniors to attend the event.

Bennett said, “It’s a time for seniors to unwind before our final exams and get away from the thought of what is to come. We can just hang out with our friends and play Jenga, badminton, volleyball, or even compete against each other in partner competitions to celebrate how far we have made it after 12 years of school.”

Many of the events hosted at Senior Celebration are familiar to activities that one would see at a school field day such volleyball, the three-legged race, sack racing, and the egg on a spoon race.

“The Senior Celebration was a fun part of senior year, as we were able to recreate the experiences we used to have back in elementary school with field days, said Paul Varosy,12,

“It was incredible to hang out with friends and be able to take a break from all the stress and overworking that comes with senior year.”

Unfortunately, Sabrina Lilande-Fischer, 12,  could not attend Senior Celebration due to a cold she had that day. She felt as if she missed out on an opportunity to spend time with her class.

“Senior Celebration seemed really fun and eventful and a good chance to hang out with the rest of the senior class. I wish I could’ve gone because then I could’ve had a lot of fun with my friends,” said Lalinde-Fischer.

A senior Celebration is an exciting event and opportunity for seniors to spend time with each other before they graduate high school.

“It’s an exciting event for underclassmen to look forward to,” said Bennet.
