Each day, administration does hall sweeps and takes wandering kids into the Academic Engagement Center (AEC), known more commonly as I.S.S. (In School Suspension). Most people stay for only a class period while for others it’s until the end of the school day.
On Friday, Nov. 10, during the first period, Zudy Atencio (12) got swept during a hall sweep.
“I’ve been suspended 3 times. You don’t do much. They make you do work sometimes but I just sat there in the nice comfy chair. You’re not allowed to have phones out at all,” Atencio said, “You can only do work or sit there until your time is up. You do get a 10-minute break depending on if you did work. Overall it was fun.”
