Summer reading is different and more fun this year

thumbnail_IMG_4088-1Smoky Hill students are required to read a book every summer. Students are referred to multiple books based off of their grade level and the English class they take.

Aside from reading the book, students will be asked to complete a task. The students are responsible for getting the book themselves over the summer.

On Schoology, under Courses, you will find that there is an enrollment in SHH2016 Summer Reading Games: section1. Once clicked on the course, lists of fictional and nonfictional books will come up.

Along with that, there are summer reading games that you can participate in. Renne Eakens posted on Schoology about the summer reading and how it will be different this year.

“SUMMER READING will look very different this year.   The majority of us, students and staff alike, will be participating in the 2016 Summer Reading Games!  Step One is the Qualifying Round:  Please go to this link, read the descriptions, and vote by May 6th for the few books you think should qualify for the Summer Games.  Winners will be announced shortly after. We will then pick Book Teams (the book you want to read and support), and the rest of the rules will be posted at that point!

Good luck with your book choices, and may the odds always be in your favor! (OOOOhhhhh! Dangerous allusion….  #ReadingMakesYouCool)”
