Scratch is a program created by MIT’s Kindergarten group. This program is mostly geared towards middle and elementary schoolers. High school students can also download this program if they would like. Programmers that use Scratch can create animations, videos, and games. While Scratch is really fun it is also educational.

As young people create and share projects in Scratch, they can also develop important design and problem-solving skills. Students can also learn how to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.

All students were able to start registering on Friday, April 11th, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. Scratch day is coming back May 17th, 2014. Scratch Day is when those who are interested in Scratch come learn and create stories and share them with others. All who attend will be able to participate.

“Scratch is a very fun website and I like it because I can put my imagination in a video or a game,” freshman Claire Owens said.

While using this software you can also share it with a friend, or make a video congratulating someone and share it with the person so they can see it. “I find this very beneficial for everyone, especially the little kids so they can have fun and explore their imagination in a new way,” Owen said.
