Zoos are harmful for animals more than you think

Lots of animals have to be kept at zoos for people’s entertainment but what do people actually think? Melany Mendoza gave me an opinion about how she feels about zoos.

“Zoos are very fun to go to they have animals that we can’t see anywhere else in the world but sometimes animals are not getting treated the right way or they are not getting the habitat that they need or in the habitat they are supposed to be in,” said Mendoza.

This was a strong thought because Melany is thinking about how the animals feel when they only have a certain amount of limit to move around in and they should be able to go where ever they want.

Also, we get told a lot that everything the animals know is taught with care and with not hurting them but how do we actually know that? I interviewed Antonio Trujillo to see what he thought about what workers at zoos tell us about their animals.

“I think the workers at zoos are lying to us because animals are smart and they can do things on their own and I think that if people at the zoos get close they will probably get attacked,” said Mendoza.

This explanation tells us that even though they might be getting trained to be nice they will actually attack others because they don’t know them or just don’t like getting hurt or mistreated overall zoos really shouldn’t exist because animals should be able to express and feel the experience of the wildlife which is where they are supposed to feel/experience.
