At Smoky Hill High School, lunch has been overcrowded and it is hard to get lunch and still have some time to eat it. This year school lunch became free, causing a lot of people to not bring lunch to school and instead get school lunch.
If you are not one of the first people in the lunch line, you will likely have to wait fifteen minutes or more to get your lunch and after that, you don’t have much time to eat
On an average day, I spend 10 to 15 minutes waiting in line to get my lunch. The longest I’ve ever spent waiting in line is 25 minutes, causing me to have to quickly eat my lunch and get to class without having any time to talk to my friends and relax.
Smoky Hill has a 30-minute lunch, here are the times of the other high schools in the district:
Cherokee Trail High School – 37-minute lunches
Overland High School – 36-minute lunch
Grandview High School – 37-minute lunch
Eaglecrest High School – 33-minute lunch
As you can see all other high schools have longer lunches. If lunch was just a little longer we could fix or at least help the situation. We wouldn’t need to write passes to class anymore and more kids would have time to talk with their friends and relax.

I think all grades have this issue of time during lunch since everyone can receive free lunch. My daughter is in the 5th grade and has said since last year it’s been a rush to eat luncg due to long lines, not enough structure for kids in the lunchroom.

Reading this, you now have to think of how much time the teachers get. Remember they need to take the students to and from lunch which takes additional time away from their lunch
Just a thought
