At the end of quarter two, all of the Smoky Hill Innovation Spaces were closed down. These areas were open for all students to use during their off periods, to hang out and get some work done. Once students started acting inappropriate, such as vandalism, trash and food left behind, and tagging on the property at the spaces, staff closed them down. They have not been used since.

Tuesday, it was announced that the tables and chairs in the upstairs 100’s area is open for use again.

“It has to stay neat and clean, no food. [Students] have to be seated. And it is to be treated like the library, so a quiet study place.” Melissa Roberts-Brysh, a math teacher at Smoky, said.

As long as these rules are followed, students this year and those attending next year will continue to be able to use the spaces.
