IMG_3440Senior night held on Friday February 19, was dedicated to student athletes who participated in the game on that same day. Senior night is a night where the center attention is not only on the event, but all eyes are on the seniors.

Before the game has started boys varsity basketball seniors Hanock Miruts(24) and Jordan Newton(33) were presented with a team photo and balloons in the shape of thier jersey numbers and a bouquet of flowers, handed by varsity coach Anthony Hardin.

When asked what did they get from being a senior on the team, senior Hanock Miruts said, “Sympathy; everyone made it feel as if it was our night win or lose”.

Smoky Hill took a loss in the final basketball game of the season against Cherry Creek, with the score 57- 43.

Senior night was also a night to recognize cheerleader Robin Fagan during the halftime at the boys varsity basketball game. Fagan walked through the the tunnel of her cheer sister with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a sign made from her coach Charlene Atkins.

“Senior night was great, my coach and teammates made it about me and did everything I wanted to do,” Fagan said.

Robin was able to do a lot that she’s always wanted to do.

“I wanted to do a stunt, so my coach let me make the structure and put me in charge of how everything that went on, such as the opening act,” Said Fagan.

Smoky Hill’s varsity Poms seniors; Soye Han and Amanda Hong shine the hilltop with an amazing duet dance.

“I feel the senior dance ended the accomplishments I have done. It was awarding to get the appreciation from the school,” Hong said.

Smoky Hill has amazing seniors throughout the herd of buffs, but on this night we show our appreciation for their hard work.

“It was a special way to remember my last high school performance” Han said.
