Since last school year, the price of laptops and laptop chargers has drastically changed. The Cherry Creek School District issued a district-wide increase in the prices for broken, lost, or stolen school-provided items.

“The prices last year to replace the computer was $50 [for the first replacement] and then after that, it was $400… Now, the first time [students] lose a Dell it’s $50. After that, it’s $490. For a surface laptop, so 9th through 11th grade, it is $50 for the first replacement and $660 after that,” Instructional Technology (IT) Coordinator, Celine Perea stated, “It used to be $35 for any charger. Now it’s $82 for any of the surface chargers.”

If students and families need pay, there is also a plan to help in progress. Under the questions of the Cherry Creek Student Device FAQ ‘What if students are struggling to pay for replacements?’, it is written, “The district is working on insurance options and will have more information soon.”
