Minimum of Four Years to Change the $20 Bill
It will take at least 14 years to get a woman on $20 bill. The change in the bill needs to happen sooner
April 27, 2016
The Alexander Hamilton’s place on the $10 bill is being replaced by a picture of Harriet Tubman. According to news reports from CBS, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew is announcing an arrangement to leave Alexander Hamilton on the front of the $10 bill and put Harriet Tubman´s portrait on the $20 bill.
In news reports, government sources also reveal that society won’t be seeing Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill anytime soon, four years to be exact. Women are always being put on hold and asked to wait. However, this is an event worth waiting for.
It has been more than 100 years since a female’s face has been considered to be honored on America’s paper currency. Women have waited 140 years to be given the right to vote and we won’t stop now. Although patience might be key, I don’t understand why we don’t have the resources to make this happen sooner?
By the time we see women being honored on America’s paper currency, we’ll already have the formula/cures for multiple diseases such as cancer and Schizophrenia. Women are equal to men, no more, no less and deserve to be acknowledged too.
The change to the bill needs to happen sooner before riots among the people arise. The government needs to recognize the woman who do much for this country and stop being sexist.
