  • Reema Zeiadah (12) and in IB has a Smoky exhibition centered around the themes of identity, culture, and religion. Reema feels it is important for the audience to understand the meaning behind her art.

  • IB student, Serenity William’s (12) exhibition focuses on the themes of identity and self-doubt, and the experience of constantly second-guessing oneself. The pieces in the exhibition are said to reflect William’s personal journey through self-doubt.

  • IB student’s, Hazel Igel (12), art showcase explores the theme of identity and transformation over time. Hazel’s pieces depict different parts of them identity and experiences that have shaped them into who they are today. Additionally, she aims to show the transformation that people undergo as they experience different things. The focus of the showcase is on Hazel’s personal journey from freshman to senior year of high school.

  • IB student’s, Aylin Celik (12), work is inspired by symbols from her Turkish heritage on her dad’s side, and that they use consistent colors and themes of symmetry and straight lines to tie her pieces together. Aylin prefers to work in three dimension and interdimensional forms to better express her ideas. She incorporates memories and personal items from her culture, which they present through a modern lens to make them more accessible to viewers. By simplifying traditional elements, the artist hopes to encourage people to ask questions and learn more about her cultural heritage.

  • Adison Spencer’s (12), and in IB, art explores the themes of life and death and the emotional processes associated with loss. The artist is using their work to express their own experiences of losing loved ones to cancer and car accidents, as well as exploring how religion has influenced their views on these events. They chose to incorporate interactive art pieces to further engage viewers and convey their intended message more effectively. In general, the showcase appears to be a personal exploration of grief, loss, and spirituality, with the goal of connecting with others who may have experienced similar emotions or processes.
