Honor Roll

Students Received Honor Roll Certificates

FullSizeRender-1Today Feb. 11, 2015 students received certificates for making Smoky Hills Honor Role for maintaining their GPA throughout last semester.

If a student is enrolled in an advanced class, they will receive two grades for their class at the end of the year. One that is weighted, and another that is unweighted. Weighted grades are not included when students are picked for the Honor Roll.

To make the Honor roll students must have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher at the end of the last semester. Students who maintain this GPA throughout the semester will get a certificate that commemorates their good grades.

The certificate includes a signature from the principle, the year, and student’s name. Students are able to find out what their GPA is by adding up their grades for the semester that students get in each class.

Each letter grade has a number value that should be associated with the letter grade: A=4, B=3,C=2,D=1. To get a student’s total unweighted GPA, they must add all their grades up to get the their total number. Then students must divide the total number by the number of classes that they took that semester.

“I did not make the Honor roll last semester,” Sophomore Annisa Gholson said. “Next semester, I am going to try and work on doing better with on my test and making sure that I get my homework in on time.”
