Night in or night out, with finals over, the next thing to look out for is the winter dance, Dance The Light Away, which has a new playlist and a new theme. The dance is a first of it’s kind here at Smoky.

“We have a usual attendance of around 500 students to the winter dance, compared to homecomings 2,000 student turn out,” senior member Calvin Sam said.

Student Government took a poll on things students wanted to see most. Most students wanted an informal dance as they didn’t like to feel pressured to dress up, “you don’t have to dress up, just come as you are,” another senior member, Bri Hernandez, said.

“We plan on having black lights and bright colors to be covering the gyms, we are also changing the was that the hallway entrance is set up,” Hernandez said.

With most of the planning all set in stone, the only thing left to do is put everything up on the night of the dance. Student Government is also excited to show off a brand new playlist and DJ for the dance. They are also hoping the bright atmosphere is something all students will enjoy.

The dance will be January 27, and will be cost $10 with activities fee paid, without it will cost $15, from 8 p.m. and until 11 p.m.
