Cherry Creek School District Sets Rumors Straight
CCSD Superintendent informs exactly is going to happen with the snow days
April 7, 2016
Cherry Creek School District superintendent, Harry Bull, sent out an email to all parents of students in the district Wed. April 6. The letter informs that we will be making up the snow days, but not by adding more days into the calendar.
The letter also involves clarification for all the rumors regarding schedule rearrangements due to weather closure.
Two school years passed with no weather cancellations, but the Cherry Creek School District had announced five snow days during the 2015-16 school year. The safety and security of both students and staff is the main focus.
Rumors have it that since Cherry Creek School District students lost five days this year because of horrible snow conditions, they will have to make them up instead of getting out of school at the assigned date. The state law and district policy have an exact amount of instructional hours that the teachers and students must have for all elementary, middle, and high schools.
The district has come to their decision on how to make up the snow days we missed.
Middle and high school have an easier schedule to adapt to, while elementary schools are more complex.
The 16 elementary schools in Cherry Creek School District will have seven minutes added to the beginning of the day and five at the ending of the day. The district has made major adjustments to the lunch/recess schedules, and your school principal will inform you on the exact times.
