Baseball Preseason Begins

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

Smoky Hill is entering the new semester and it’s about time to begin baseball season.

The Smoky Hill baseball team has already gotten off to a good start, practicing every weekday since Thanksgiving break. Practice begins after school at three forty five, and everyone interested in playing is welcome to join. The season begins in March, so this head start should give the team a large advantage for the regular season.

The practices are ran by head coach Bob Kennedy. If you attend these preseason workouts, you’ll most likely run into Sean Schofield. A baseball player of four years who will most likely be getting varsity innings this year.

Sean said, “For preseason workouts we do a lot of lifting and we get to field and hit as well.” Sean has been playing since his freshman year and has been putting in a lot of hard work to get to the position he’s in. The reason he works so hard is because “ baseball is a fun sport”, but it also keeps his mind off of things he would rather not worry about. So if you’re looking to be in a spring sport try baseball, meet new people, and get therapeutic exercise.
