What Can I do to Pass?

Students hustle to pass classes

Mona Jabr, Staffer

Why is there a long line next to all the teachers’ desks? Oh wait! Students are failing their classes. It is that time of the year when everybody is hustling to get in last minute assignments and extra credit to bump up that 60 percent.

A teacher’s worst nightmare is seeing a stack of papers, piled up on her desk and being begged to grade it in a matter of hours. What is just as bad is being asked for extra credit, when a student has not done any of his or her work all year long.

Your grades are something that you should have cared about months ago rather than only when it is time to graduate. Why should teachers be punished with last minute grading when students have been procrastinating all along?

Before approaching your teacher, you should have a clear idea of what you would like to talk about. Be prepared to talk about the reason why your grade is what it is and why she should be convinced to help out.

It is offensive for teachers to be asked for extra credit. Asking this simple question will make them feel unappreciated of what they have been working hard for all this time.

It is insanely stressful for seniors at this time of year, however low grades should not put you down. The guilt applies to me just as much as others, teachers work hard all year long educate us and in return we have one question; what can I do to pass?
