Varsity Football vs. Gateway

The Smoky Hill Buffaloes football team has a home conference game vs. Gateway Fri, Sept, 25, @ 7PM. The Buffs will attempt to advance on its 1-3 season record. The key to the Buffs first win of the season came from performances by Senior Tahir Hopkins, Senior Dante Lewis, Junior, Karson Avila, & Junior Robert Woods.

Tahir Hopkins had one catch for a 78 yard touchdown in the victory over Arvada West, he also had eight total tackles. Dante Lewis made four catches for 92 yards with two touchdowns, including a 61 yard touchdown.

Lewis also recorded eight tackles on defense. Junior Linebacker, Robert Woods recorded  a season high with 18 total tackles, three tackles for loss.
Starting quarterback Karson Avila was in a game against Arvada West, he threw for a total of    184 yards and made three touchdowns, with a passer rating of 110.4. Despite a one and three record, Junior corner Joseph Lawrence still has high hopes for the rest of the season. “I think our football team will continue to grow and we’ll continue to win more football games,” Lawrence said. The football team will look to win their first conference game of the season when they take on Gateway this friday.
