Tips for Upcoming Juniors

Dear Sophomores: Tips for your Junior Year

Nafees Abidi, Staffer

  1. Start prepping for the SAT. I wouldn’t recommend taking SAT Prep classes over the summer unless you’re taking the September, October, or December test. During the summer you should definitely get an SAT prep book and be ready for what type of questions will be asked. Do not take the Practice SAT as a joke because it is very important and it gives you an idea of you´re score. I would suggest taking SAT prep classes a couple months prior to your test so you can remember the information better.
  2.  Be extremely organized. I know everyone hears this from one ear and letś it out the other, but this is extremely important to a successful junior year. I would recommend buying the planners that are distributed by the school on check in day, because they have school days organized. From prior experience I know you will need it!study2
  3. Make sure to visit the colleges you are interested in. The school year will get extremely busy so I would recommend visiting colleges in the summer, and make sure to not be stuck on one college only.
  4. Working or volunteering over the summer is a wise choice. I would recommend to not work during the school year because studies should be the main focus in Junior year. I didn’t work and I barely had enough time to finish all my homework and understand the curriculum from each class.
  5. The most important thing to remember is that relaxing is okay. You have a big year ahead of you and relaxing is not only fun but it is also healthy. If you have a AP History vocab sheet due tomorrow and youŕe tired, just go to sleep. You will always have time to wing it throughout the day. As long as you stay on top of your game you will be set.
