The Denver Botanic Gardens Dead Zone Haunted Attraction

Most of it was a joke… except for the maze

Sabrina Chavez, Staffer

The Denver Botanic Gardens holds a Dead Zone Haunted Attraction every year. The Dead Zone includes the Reapers Ranch, Haunted Hayride, and Cornstalkers Haunted Maze.

The adventure begins at the Reapers Ranch. The Reapers Ranch is a small path that you walk down that lasts less than a minute and contains about 3 jumpscares. The Reapers Ranch was boring and didn’t contain much excitement.

After you venture through the Reapers Ranch, you board the haunted hayride. The haunted hayride takes you on a dirt path however, the ride stopped because there was a “clown sighting.” Usually the actors chased the wagon, dressed up as clowns. The whole thing was a joke…a boring joke.

The hayride drops you off at the Cornstalkers Haunted Maze. You begin by walking through a small trailer that leads you into the corn maze. The corn maze is unlit and there are “cornstalkers” everywhere.

While walking through the maze the actors chase you around. When I was lost and wandering through the corn maze, actors followed me. Although they are not allowed to touch you, but they are allowed to get as close to you as they’d like. There were holes in the ground there they replaced the dirt ground with trampolines. Warning: walk with caution.

I would give this 3 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend going solely because of the Corn Maze.

Fridays and Saturdays it is open from 7- midnight. The last tickets are sold at 11 pm. The attraction is open Thursdays and Sundays from 7 to 11pm.

General admission is $27 per person. It is $10 more for a fast pass. Both admissions include all three attractions.
