Junior John Donnelly spent half of a semester building a large pot for his advanced pottery class, then he spent a quarter of a semester to glaze his pot.

Donnelly’s artwork now sits in front of the green dean’s office among other clay pots. “I did my pot off of the celtic religion so all the symbols on there is off the celtic religion,” Donnelly said.

The pot’s main color is navy blue. “I just thought that the blue would look nice with the symbols and have all the symbols iron oxide.”

He feels that he has accomplished something great. “It is definitely rewarding to see my artwork out here where everyone can admire it,” Donnelly said.

Donnelly is happy that his pot made it through the kiln. “[There are] two firing stages and it’s where the pot can crack it could even explode depending on how well you built it,” Donnelly said, “The second time is scary too.”

Donnelly had other ideas he wanted to add to his pot, but even though they did not work, his is happy with the final product. “I look at it and I am impressed with what I did with it,” Donnelly said.
