Super Star Mr.Murray.

Teacher Steve Murray is actually a musician

IMG_7369Science teacher Stephen Murray, is more than just your average boring teacher. In the summer of his freshman year in college, he began to find interest in writing and singing folk music. Since then he has made two CDs that were published in 1997 and 2000.

“I found a cheap guitar and just started playing songs that I liked and bought books to help guide me to play the right notes. Since then I bought a Harmonica because someone told me they didn’t like my singing.¨ Murray said.

Although Murray does not write songs or sing very often anymore, he would like to start a songwriting club. He says he would give advice and direction on how to write songs and hopefully inspire students. ¨If there was enough people who would be interested and we did create the club, I would probably give them a topic to write about and give them 15 to 20 minutes to create a song and share with the group,” Murray said. “Or I’d help them write with what they could be going through emotionally because that’s why I started writing songs to help me with my emotions. However, since I started teaching, songwriting and singing became secondary.¨

If you are interested in songwriting and singing, you should gather a group or a couple friends and go talk to Mr.Murray
