Overland High School will be hosting a solo and ensemble performance April 22 for any student who plays an instrument in the Cherry Creek School District. At this festivals, students will perform a solo or a small ensemble in front of a judge where they will be evaluated and given feedback by the judge.

“It’s truly a wonderful experience, and we hope you will joining us this year!” Said Ryan Monarch, director of bands at Overland High school.

Students who want to participate in the festival should visit CHSSA’s website to find registration and pricing information.

“Essentially I’m encouraging any band student or anyone who has any interest in performing to participate,” Said Zackery Ruffert, band director at Smoky Hill. “Ideally students who want to do it or interested in auditioning for an honor band experience, this is a really good way to grow into that (performing solos) student who may want to major in music probably want to consider doing this to help prepare for being a college major but also auditioning in college. But really this is for anyone who wants to challenge themselves individually as a musician.” Said Ruffert.

For anyone who has questions they should email the band’s director, Ryan Monarch or contact Hannah Smith, the orchestra director at Overland. Students can also contact Zachary Ruffert at Smoky Hill.
