Smoky Hill Buffaloes Basketball team plays the George Washington Patriots tonight. The Buffaloes are currently ranked 18th in 5A, and 51st in the state. The Patriots are currently ranked 7th in 5A, and 20th in the state.

The Buffaloes have won three games this year and loss two (3-2). One of the losses was a forfeit because of an ineligible player playing, the second loss was to the Wasatch Academy, who is ranked second in Utah. The Patriots have won four games this year, and lost one. There one loss was against Rock Canyon who is currently ranked number one in Colorado right now.

This is a key matchup for the Buffaloes. This game can really help the teams rating percentage index (rpi), which will control where we are ranked at the end of the year based off who we play, and who the teams we play go against.

Some key things to look at tonight will be the battle between the guards Quinten Rock, and Jon’il Fugett. Rock has come off an amazing tournament in Utah, where he made second team all tournament, and is averaging 10.0 points per game, and 3.5 steals per game. Fugett has had a solid start to the season averaging  9.0 points per game, and 1.3 steals per game. These two guards have great impact on their team’s. Another key matchup will be inside with bigs Will Becker, and D’Auntray Pierce. Both big men have great shot blocking abilities and do a great job of patrolling the paint for their teams.
