On Monday the 13th senior students at Smoky checked out from Smoky Hill. Senior students took about 30 minutes to get signatures from all of the important Smoky Hill record keepers, such as the nurse or counselor, then as they got all of these signatures they would head down near the main office and have staff members check them out.

Michelle Corrado, a staff member here at Smoky Hill was assisting in checking out the seniors. “So, we make sure they’ve returned all of their textbooks, that they’ve paid all their fines, and they’ve earned their credits,” Stated Corrado.

Senior students won’t have to go to classes after the checkout on Monday, but yet, some senior are still going to classes. Checkout would take about 5 minutes with the staff near the main office.

Senior Emma Brazelton said, “It’s kind of surreal, because it feels like i’m not doing it but I’m here and the sheet is getting signed, and it’s kind of weird. You’ll go to all of the significant people where all of the records will be held, so you can fully leave.” Brazelton plans on doing dance after High School and would like to become a dance teacher.

Freshman Emma Crain also said, “It’s going to be really scary when we’ll get to checkout in 2022, I already know I’m nowhere close to real life. I’m already anxious since this year has gone by so fast.”
