Senior Check-Out Survival Guide

6 Tips to get you to the finish line.

Rachel Ellis, Editor-in-Chief

passCongratulations, seniors! You’ve made it all the way to check-out day. This can be a little overwhelming, as there is much to do. Here’s a quick guide to getting in and out as fast and worry-free as possible.

  1. Form a game-plan.

Walking around with an idea of what you want to get done and in what order is going to get you moving a lot faster than if you were just wandering around deciding at random where to go next. Decide who to visit first, and prioritize the harder things first, that way your day gets easier as time goes on.

  1. Bookkeeping does not accept checks from seniors in May.

This is something that I had to find out the hard way. They will accept cash or card, and they can take it in person or over the phone. Don’t let something like this keep you waiting around on check-out day.

  1. Don’t worry about your friends.

Today, your sole priority is getting out. You will be able to see your friends any time you want to this summer, say hi – but then be on your way! No one can get between you and freedom! Not today!

  1. Be patient.

You will most likely have to wait in line to get some of your signatures. Take a deep breath and remember that the end is in sight. This line will move, even if it takes a while.

  1. Two birds with one stone.

If you can take out two or more items at one stop, do it! Maybe you have a fine to pay and some old lost textbooks to turn in, head straight to bookkeeping and get both things taken care of. Don’t keep yourself going around in circles.

  1. Use common sense.

Don’t let some stupid argument turn into something that keeps you from walking at graduation. Remember that we signed that contract, and it is valid right up to the bitter end. Should you run into a problem that infuriating while at check-out, remove yourself from the situation before you do something you regret.
Hopefully those tips can be helpful for you, I know I’m going to use them! See you at graduation!
