Schools On Secure Perimeter

A shooting takes place on South Buckley Road

On November 09, 2017, a shooting occurred in a neighborhood off South Buckley Road during a Thursday afternoon.

 

As of right now, there was one person who was taken to the hospital, according to 9news based off a tweet from the Arapahoe county sheriff’s department, this occurred on East Progress Drive and Hialeah Avenue. Because of this incident, there are six nearby schools that were placed on a secure perimeter.

 

Investigators urge people to stay inside. So far there isn’t any information known on suspects in custody.

 

A secure perimeter means no students, staff, or any other person are allowed to enter or leave the school building until Arapahoe county says it is safe to do so.

 

The following schools under secure perimeter are:

  • Elementary schools: Indiana Ridge, Independence, Meadow Point, and Trails West
  • Middle schools: Laredo
  • High schools: Smoky Hill

 

The schools will have a delayed dismissal and parents will be informed when they will be able to pick up their children.
