March 3, 2016
Colorado’s Democratic Caucus for Adam’s County Mar. 1, was held in Mission Viejo Elementary School, among other locations. The evening began at 6 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Soon after, the instructions were read out loud to each individual group.
Dave Willman from the Cherry Creek School District Board of Education was also at this event.
“This is a great community event and I’m glad people with different views and values come together. It is great to see the large number of voter turnout we have; it’s great that so many people gathered together for the country,” Willman said.
Everybody was divided into precinct’s, groups, according to their zip code and city. After the division of precinct’s, Hillary Clintons supporters and Bernie Sanders supporters were divided into an additional two groups. Big groups were divided into even smaller groups. For each precinct, attendees elected a manager and secretary.
Everett Brinson organized the caucus at Mission.
“I have been busy all day with the organization but I am glad we had a great outcome of people,” Brinson said.
Every group was required to pick delegates. The amount of delegates depend on the size of the group, some groups didn’t have any delegates and some had 3. The delegates would represent the group March 26.
“This event is really great for the community, I love this unity,” Mission Viejo’s Assistant Principal Chelsea Carson said.
Bernie Sanders won the Democratic caucus of Colorado.
