Preparing for Poppins

On March 10,11, and 12 at 7:15 p.m will be the Mary poppins musical. In Drama Club, there are different positions and jobs people are assigned to. Junior Amanda Lather is the club’s historian.

“I am the club’s historian which documents every event we do, and at the end of the year I make all those documents into a big slideshow.” said Lather.

Taking pictures of your group may sound fun, but there are challenges of being a member of the Drama Club. Lather said,

“One of the biggest challenges was trying to get people to show up to our meetings. A lot of people don’t show up because they have other clubs or sports to go to.”

Some challenges you can’t get passed, but having people help you get passed those challenges is what Lather wants Drama Club to be about. Even though there can be some challenges in Drama Club there are good parts to it as well.

“ I like the fact that we can get along and support each other. We can have fun while getting stuff done.’’ Said Lather.

Another club that Lather attends is Tech. “I am in tech which is building the set up for the musical.” Lather is also the head of the make-up for the cast. The whole cast is about 30 to 40 people. The difficulties that come with having two major parts off the musical is stressful for Lather.

“One challenge I face with these two jobs are not having enough people to build and paint the set up. Another challenge is not having the correct make up for the character.” said Lather.
