Pre-Summer Sleep

With summer only a few weeks away, students need to get much needed sleep.

Towards the end of the year, some students may find it hard to get a good night’s sleep. Students stay up late because of homework,

First, students need to do all of their homework during their off-periods, directly after school, or during lunch. Homework should be done before 9 P.M. If homework isn’t done before 9 P.M., students should wake up earlier to do their remaining homework instead of staying up late.

Students should prioritize their assignments. If they a harder or longer assignment, it should be done before their other work. Also, if students find they have too much homework, they should do the homework for classes they have lower grades in.

Homework isn’t the only thing keep students from their full eight hours of sleep. Stress can also can students to lose sleep. Students should find a way to relieve stress before bed. Students like sophomore Yajaira Barraza do all kinds of things to relax before bed. “I listen to music to calm myself,” Barraza said. “[I also] watch a movie, read a book, or go outside to move around and exercise.”

Students should also have a routine at night to get them ready for the next day. They should pick out their clothes, pack their backpacks, and anything else to get them ready for the next day. And more importantly, go to bed early.

Students need to get rest these last few weeks to end the year with a bang. “Try to go to bed early. Exercise if you stress out.” Barraza said.
