Next Generation Voices, also known as NGV,  is a club at Smoky that is dedicated to informing the community about the Asian culture and dispelling stereotypes. Every Green Monday, the club meets to discuss projects and community service. “We want to to get rid of stereotypes, but [we] also want to make people more aware of Asian culture,” club leader Gaby Sigah said. “[We also] serve the community.”
NGV is involved in many different Smoky events, such as Lip Dub, World Awareness, and Toe Jam. These events allow students to learn more about the Asian culture through dance, cuisine, and fashion. “I love being in World Awareness and Toe Jam,” Sigah said.  “But it is not only Smoky Hill; we get other kids from in the district to help out.”
While the club is focused primarily on Asian culture, they say anyone is welcome. “You don’t have to be Asian to be in this group,” Sigah said. “It is an open group.”
If students are interested in meeting American-Asian students or want to learn more about the different Asian cultures, check out NGV. The group meets every Green Monday in room I-31 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
