MSA Middle Eastern Refugge Drive

Ashley Nubine, Staffer

Muslim Student Association (MSA) is having a drive for middle eastern refugees, ”We are collecting  all kinds of supplies, mostly winter clothes and medical supplies for the Syrian  refugees,” senior Ahmad Amra said. The drive will be going on up to Fri.Dec, 4, donations can be dropped off in boxes located in the library or any resource center.

“It’s about to be winter there and they don’t really have the supplies to survive the winter, so we are trying to collect as much as we can to send over,” Amra said. Over 12 million syrians have fled from their home because of conflict taking place in their country. With winter coming up this leaves a lot of Syrians without food, proper attire for the winter, blankets, and shoes.

“These people don’t have their homes anymore they don’t have anywhere to go and they are living on a land that they don’t really know,” Amra said.

Some of the donations collected will also go to the Denver homeless shelter as well. “It’s a really great thing to do; things that are donated also go to the Denver homeless so it’s also helping out the community here and in Syria,”Amra said.

If you missed the drive and still want to donate you can get in contact with any MSA member and give them your donation, once donations are received they will be sorted through at a local Mosque.
