2015-03-23-21-24-57-657307190Action-packed, filled with romance and suspense, the sequel to the hit movie, Divergent, is a great movie that is absolutely nothing like the book.

I never truly adored the book series, Tris never seemed like a true heroine to me, but the movie series is so far amazing. The movie transforms Tris from an insurgent (roll credits) to a soldier of the people. I also appreciated how Tris was not afraid of guns like she was in the book; it made her Dauntless side that much more apparent.

The movie was also full of surprise. Towards the end of the movie, Tris “dies” which completely shocked me. In the book, Tris was saved by Peter by his injection of a paralysis serum during her execution, which never happened in the movie. Instead, there is a box that only a divergent can open but many have died opening the box as they are not divergent enough to pass all of the simulations required of them. Tris, who has completed all but the Amity simulation, flat lines while attempting to pass it, after which Jeanine shows remorse. Then, to my surprise, she is alive and they go back to open the box. Boom, take that book fans!

This movie was an overall amazing movie. It was great that they diverted from the book and transformed Tris into someone much better than the book’s version. From its special effects to its script, the movie was almost flawless. However, some of the acting was not up to the level I expected it to be at some times during the middle of the movie. This movie deserves a four out of five stars.
