IB Visual Arts Show
April 21, 2016
Smoky Hill High School’s annual IB Visual Arts Show will be held in the Lecture Centre April 28, starting at 7:10 a.m. and will be con
tinuing throughout the day.
The IB Visual Arts Show will consist of artists who are a part of the IB Diploma Programme.
According to ibo.org “the IB Diploma Programme (DP) is a rigorous, academically challenging and balanced programme of education designed to prepare students aged 16 to 19 for success at university and life beyond. The DP aims to encourage students to be knowledgeable, inquiring, caring and compassionate, and to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness and the attitudes necessary to respect and evaluate a range of viewpoints.”
“Only juniors and seniors will be presenting at the IB Visual Arts Show, as it is a class they can take for their sixth subject,” IB assistant, Veena Kumar said.
The DP Visual Arts class encourages students to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries.
Throughout the IB Visual Arts Show, students will be presenting their work that reflect upon a wide range of contemporary practices and media, as well as art from different perspectives.
Students will be presenting their projects, which they have been working on since the beginning of the school year.
“This is a class that is filled with students that want to study visual arts in higher education and pursue it as a career, or simply have an interest in art,” Kumar said.
