IB Regetrations Are Here

Register for IB classes

Smoky Hill High School is now allowing high school students to register for  The International Baccalaureate program (IB). Only forms for the years of 2014 and 2015 are accepted. The IB program provides academic challenges that encourage students to connect and understand the differences between regular classes and the real world.

This program is recommended for students that are willing to be challenged but is not required. “It is challenging but it also gives me more opportunities,” freshman Claire Owens said.

It consists of  8 subjects: Literature and Language, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Society, Sciences, Mathematics, Performing and Visual Arts, Physical and Health Education, and Design. Students are required to have at least a 3.25 GPA and have successfully passed Algebra 1.

When a student enters freshman or sophomore year, they have to complete at least ten hours of community service. Community service is not offered in regular classes. “The community service hours help get you well rounded,” Owens said.

Register for The IB program now before it becomes too late. Talk to the IB coordinator for any help.
