Valentine’s day is the day to serve as an excuse to give loved one gifts such as chocolate, stuffed animals, and various other sweets. Yet students at Smoky Hill have found various methods to celebrate Valentine’s day with a loved one or with friends.

Sean Abing is a 10th grader at Smoky Hill, and is in a serious relationship.

He said,“Its very nice, we hang out every other day… i’ve met her parents and she has met mine. It’s been about seven months and probably going longer.”

Sean didn’t have plans with his girlfriend during Valentines day. But he has envisioned a perfect Valentine’s day.

Sean’s perfect Valentines with his girlfriend would be to “Sit down in the basement eating donuts– I love donuts– and watching movies.”

Coraleigh Quattlebaum is a 10th grader in Smoky Hill and is celebrating Valentine’s without a relationship.

Cora said, “I feel like even though some people don’t have a relationship in high school it’s still fun to go out with friends and get presents for your friends and stuff.”

Kailei Childers a 9th grade student at Smoky Hill also agrees with Cora that students can hangout with friends and lovers on Valentines.

Kailei said , “I think it should in case like if you’re not in a relationship, and if you’re in a relationship you can go out with them, yay that’s fun.”

Students aren’t professionals when it comes to Valentine’s day, though their experiences and their envisions for how to spend Valentines can help those who don’t know what to do.
