Not everyone celebrates Christmas, including sophmore Mahi Maliha Zavin. During Winter Break, Zavin stays at home to she spends time  with her family. “It’s just like a normal break for me,” said Zavin.

Although Zavin doesn’t celebrate Christmas, she does sing carols, wear Santa hats, and participates in gift exchanges. “There is no harm getting into the Christmas spirit. Just because I don’t full on celebrate Christmas, doesn’t mean I don’t respect the holiday. I [also] go downtown to see the lights,” said Zavin.

During New Year’s Day, Zavin goes out with friends and family and watches the New Year celebration on TV. There are also parties that Zavin goes to that are hosted by friends and families on New Year’s.
