Freshman Friday: Breanna Rose Hitt

Keeping up With the Freshmans

Nafees Abidi, Staffer

Are you in any school activities?

“I am in the club Buffstanders and I enjoy it overall because it involves people coming together to help other students and people who are being bullied, feeling alone, etc. Buffstanders is one of the Alyssa Morganmost inspirational clubs in our school because it honestly makes me and other members want to help the world and be kinder to the people around, even family,” freshman Breanna Rose Hitt said.

How are your grades?

“I have straight A’s because as a freshman I do not think it is that hard, it is just like middle school, easy to keep up with. I also have good grades because I have my priorities set straight, and I study everywhere,” Hitt said. “Not only that but I love to be organized, I even have a different backpack for each day.”

“The most important thing to keep up with all [classes] is taking good notes. The only thing that high school has to offer that I wasn’t really used to at first, was the size of the school. I am used to it now though,” Hitt said. “When I first came I could not find my classes for about a month, and the security guards were my go to people to ask, even though they would get annoyed of me. Margie even had my one periods memorized,”

What is your personal life like?

“I think I would consider myself fun and outgoing, every weekend I have plans which are new or something I haven’t done in a while. Outside of school I hang out with my friends that go to Eaglecrest High School because most of my friends from middle school did not come to Smoky Hill,” Hitt said. ¨My life at home just involves a caring family who always spoil me. In middle school everyone used to think I was rude but I am not, I am just spoiled. Besides that my favorite hobby is playing video games,”

Do you help around the community?

“My mom and I work at the dog shelter. Working there has brought me close to many animals not only dogs. I learned that if you want to help the animals do not judge private rescues, and also that there are some people who have no other choice than to surrender their pet. I also volunteer [at] Goodwill here and there, I love taking on volunteering opportunities,” Hitt said.

What has Smoky Hill taught you?

“Smoky Hill has basically just taught me what high school is. I know I am a freshman but I think everyone has a different experience in high school but for the most part everyone’s experience is similar to each others. I thought high school was going to be hard because of the fact that I was placed in all honor classes, but high school is actually just more time consuming in my eyes,” Hitt said. “So far, high school has been fun in a way, even though it is a much faster pace than middle school. Last but not least Smoky has taught me to eat school lunch only on Tuesdays and Thursdays because of Domino’s pizza and sometimes the Chef’s choice.”

How do you feel about not having permission to go off campus?

“I don’t mind it. Freshman don’t care about the rule anyways, or maybe it is just me and my friends who don’t care. I mean come on, which freshman have you meet who has not went off campus? Usually though I just go to school, do the work, and then go home,” Hitt said.

Do you feel experienced in high school now?

“I would hope so since I have been going here for almost a whole year. Most upperclassmen tell me I look like a sophomore or junior because I honestly can care less if I fit in or not,” Hitt said. “I am looking forward to becoming a sophomore, because I will be in AP Government and Politics, which excites me. I am also excited to be a sophomore because it is pretty embarrassing telling people I am a freshie.”
