May 19, 2016
Apprentice Project is an in-class project for all Marketing One students, it takes place over four weeks. Every week of the of the competition the field narrows down until there is one class winner. Wed. 5/18 students were excused early to prepare and set-up for the all school Apprentice competition.
The final winners of five different classes came together for one all school competition. The finals were judged by a community member, a hotel restaurant management major from UNOV, our principal Chuck Puga , and the head of the business department Mr. Van Wormer.
The final presentation was to present a 10 minute presentation that covers all four weeks, concept, menu, physical model, and marketing ad for their restaurant.
Marketing One, Two teacher and baseball coach William (KB) Kingsbaker was “[I was the] judge throughout the process. I was just the time keeper and the operations manager, i just made sure things ran smoothly,” KB said.
The winners
- Bun to Bun
- Taco Wok
- Wok in the Park and Ohana Kai
- Morocan Nights
Throughout this four week process there was a lot ups and downs when creating a feasible restaurant.” I was like a proud dad of five of the groups because I know how much work they each put in,” KB said.
Students have a lot of fun doing this project, it’s a way to take what the students are learning in class and make it real and it’s why so many students want to join DECA and why more students in the future join DECA .
