COVID-19 Pandemic Comes to An End After 3 Years?
Questions arise if the pandemic is finally over or not
May 18, 2023
On May 19, it was decided that COVID-19 no longer posed a public health emergency. It has still been said that COVID-19 still poses a global threat but it is less urgent than before. In reality, the pandemic never really ended but it was weakened and can be fought against.
Despite the Public Health Emergency of COVID-19 being declared as expired, there will still be health concerns. But a lot has been accomplished to decrease the rate of COVID-19 over the last 3 years.
What will be affected by the end of the COVID-19 PHE:
Many PHE (Public Health Emergencies) have expired at different times in different states. In Colorado, Governor Jared Polis allowed the Executive Order to rise the PHE to expire on May 5th. This will decrease strict policies in healthcare centers and the mask mandatory will be disbanded in some areas.
What will not be affected by the end of the COVID-19 PHE:
The Administration’s continued response to COVID-19 has not been fully dependent on the emergency and not many actions or flexibilities in the PHE will not be affected by the current response.
