Colorado Feels The Bern

FullSizeRenderMore than 18,000 Bernie Sanders supporters on February 13th spent their Saturday afternoon at the Colorado Convention center to watch democratic presidential Contender, Bernie Sanders address money in politics, free college tuition, climate change and a 15 dollar minimum wage. Promising Colorado voters to fix health care, the rights for women, and middle class families in a 45 minute rally.

However, before Sanders made an entrance, the large and enthusiastic crowed had enjoyed the performances from Color
ado’s own Flobots and the Samples. John Ford, President of the education association of Jefferson county, also made an appearance, “ We are not afraid of people who have power over us.” Ford said. “People ask me why I support Senator Sanders, the answer is pretty simple- I respect and know Sanders will do the best for this country.” Ford says while the crowd begins to chant “Bernie!”

During the rally, Senator Sanders also addressed racism. “ Segregation and racism are immoral and have got to change.” Sanders said. He continues to say, “Only 30 percent of whites are unemployed, 36 percent of hispanics and 51 percent of African Americans are also unemployed.”

More than 18,000 people had waited for more than 3 hours to meet the man that gives them hope for a better future.

“What we are saying is that millions of people have to stand up, have to fight back and make it clear that the government of the United States belongs to all of us.” Sanders said as the crowd cheers him on.
