A French police dog was killed Wednesday in an operation targeting the mastermind of Friday’s massacre in Paris.

“Diesel”, a 7-year old Belgian shepherd, “Was killed in an operation.” according to French Police. “I have two hamsters, a fish, and a leopard gecko. I would cry myself to sleep if one of them died,” sophomore Raeven Hollingsworth said.

Police forces often use dogs to sniff out explosives. At least two terror suspects were killed in the raid in Saint-Denis, including a women who wore a suicide vest and took her own life.

“Assault and explosives search dogs are indispensable in the missions of the raid,” the French police posted on Twitter.
The phrase “RIP Diesel” became a top trending search term worldwide shortly after the post. The hashtag ‘#JeSuisChien’, translated into English as “I am a dog,” a way of showing respect for Diesel. “I feel like there should be a statue or a monument for the dog because she is a hero.” Hollingsworth said.
